We’ve gone out sailing around the world (ok, on the internet!) and found the worst boat names around. These are the kind of cheap pun boat names that turn a 47′ 2014 Bavaria into the laughing stock of the Marina! If you’re struggling on something to call your new yacht, we suggest you don’t go naming them any of these… She Got The House This isn’t even a name – quite frankly it’s a scream for help! Congratulations to the house owner though for giving him something to sail far away in. This is a horrible name for a boat, and I suggest you steer away from calling your boat this, or anything that shouts ‘I feel sorry for myself!’ Vitamin Sea I get that this has been thought up because you sail on the sea, which is pronounced as ‘c’ but it has nothing to do with sailing.. or boats! But it just doesn’t make sense. If it was in perfect condition with the outside being glistening white I’d understand it a bit more but it’s rusty and therefore it hasn’t been taking good care of itself with vitamins or any other kind of health related substance?! Privacy Privacy is Tiger Woods yacht. In our opinion Privacy is a horrific name for a boat! If it was a one bedroomed, small boat then I think the name would sit well but the size of this yacht assures there would be zero privacy aboard! Moreover, it’s a celebrities boat which means that the lack of private life because of the press makes the name almost accidentally ironic! Breaking Wind This deserves no credit. How immature do you need to be to call your boat ‘Breaking Wind’. Not only is this just tragic but because the boat is actually a good size, a lot of people are going to see that and laugh! Please don’t be mistaken by this, they are laughing AT your boat because it’s stupid. If you had anything between your ears you would come up with a more unique and interesting name for a beautiful boat like this instead of embarrassing yourself! Keep’n it Reel No, if you call your boat this then you’re definitely not ‘Keeping it real’. It’s an alright pun, that’s all I can come up with for anything positive about this name. It’s not funny, witty or even interesting! What happened to the classic boat names like ‘The Majestic’ or ‘Gemini Dream’? It just seems like people have lost their ability to be creative, such a waste of boat. Liked this article? Be sure to check out our twitter @plainsailing and facebook plainsailing page for more! ...
5 Reasons You Should Have a Sailing Christmas
posted by admin
It’s only when you’re sat in your office shivering in early December (and dreading the colder months ahead) that you realise just how good an idea it is to take the family on a yachting holiday! Unfortunatley we’re not talking about chartering a yacht in Scotland at this time of year (that would be an altogether different family experience!) but in time the guys at PlainSailing.com will offer Carribbean charters I’m sure! :) Here are 5 reasons that going on a Sailing holiday at Christmas is a fantasic idea… Warmer Weather Swap the snow for the warm san of the Caribbean. Instead of bundling up to go visit your relatives, why not pull out the bathing suits and go for a sailing vacation? The average temperature that time of year in the Caribbean is around 26 degrees, so why not escape for some fun in the sun? Something Different Does the hustle and bustle of Christmas stress you or your partner out? Skip it all and just set sail this year. Instead of worrying about cooking and cleaning the traditional Christmas meal, parties and get-togethers, why not spend the time with your family trying out some new activities on board your yacht? Family Affair Why not turn the entire venture into a family based vacation? Invite those uncles and aunts around for a Christmas they’ll never forget. Santa won’t forget you and we’re pretty sure he’ll still find you, so you may as well be snorkelling or diving when he does. Breaks Aligned Booking a holiday any other time of year is difficult. Everyone has schedules and time they just can’t take off. Kids have school to worry about and your boss just isn’t saying yes to your holiday request. But everyone is off for Christmas, so why not take advantage of the perfectly aligned timelines to get that holiday that you’ve wanted for a while? Gift Vacation Everyone knows how hard it can be to find the right gift for the right person. It’s stressing, expensive and exhausting. You can surprise the entire family with a yacht vacation. It’s the gift of quality time, new experiences and adventure. Everyone is sure to love it. Liked this article? 5 Reasons Sailing Is Better Than Work
posted by admin
We’ve all dreamed of giving up the office job and hitting the seven seas (that’s the actual ocean rather than the pub of the same name in Grimsby!) Here are 5 reasons why sailing is sooo much better than work… Freedom Who doesn’t want to wake up every day knowing you have no obligations except to relax in the sun and watch the ocean pass you by? No deadlines to work to, no boss to appease. Just you, your boat and the open ocean to lazily watch. Lack of Co-Workers Everyone has that one guy in the office who just can’t shut up about how well he did this job, or how he totally did this thing. Well, he doesn’t exist on your sailboat. No annoying watercooler conversations or co-workers asking you if you can finish this task they were given because they have to go pick up their kids. Routines Ever noticed how your day is just a ‘Go there, do this. Go there, do that’ over and over and over? How you’re awake at the same time every day, you come home and do the same thing every day? Well not while sailing. Every day has something new to offer and you’re at completely freedom to choose when you want to do whatever it is that you want to do. Phones Maybe this is more of a general one, but the lack of phone coverage out on the ocean really helps to bring the peacefulness around you. When you don’t have to worry about who’s going to call or text you next, when you have nothing to distract you. Maybe you don’t realise it yet, but your life is going to seem so much better the moment you ditch that phone. Adventure Seriously. Visiting new places all the time is exciting. Seeing all manner of sea creatures and uninhabited islands is a thrill that you just can’t get in work. Or maybe you’re that guy and can. Whatever. Sailing through the ocean and seeing the wonders of nature makes you never want to go back to that office. Liked this article?
